New Park Village (0) v Blades (1) Sunday 30th November 2008 Playing on one of the coldest days yet Blades
gave one of their best performances of the season on their visit to NPV. Although a 1-0 win suggests one picture,
the reality was that Blades played some excellent team football and, had they converted the chances they created, could have
been coming away with a good few more goals. However, the most important thing was the three points and Blades thoroughly
deserved them although credit must also go to NPV who helped make this a great advert for Junior football. Blades battled
from start to finish and in doing so produced some superb passing football to create chances. Jordan Wright, Ryan Stanley,
James Cartwright, Josh Owen and Jack Jeavons were all despeately unlucky not to hit the back of the net and were denied by
a good NPV 'keeper and the woodwork. 0-0 at half time when either side copuld have had goals - Blades' own Jake Nicholls
producing some terrific saves and collecting a bruised eye following one particularly brave piece of classic goalkeeping -
was the right result but after the break Blades continued where they'd left off and pressured the NPV goal. Eventually their
hard work paid off and when Ryan Stanley (who'd worked tirelessly all match) delivered the perfect cross, Ricky Sira was on
the end of it to head into the net. That picked Blades up even more and they pressed for more goals. Throughout the
match, players got into great positions only to be denied at the last minute. Superb performance from every player
today with that Blades team spirit shining through.
