Bustleholme 2000 V Chasetown FC

Home

Venue- Churchfields.
Game:- League Division 1.
Firstly can I apologise for the fact that I did not get time to submit a Match Report on our defeat at Cosford Harriers last week, although we lost, there were a lot of “Positives” to be taken from the Game and some “Excellent” individual performances.
Now, back to this afternoon which saw the visit of Chasetown F.C., I have to confess that I compile this report from somewhat a different “perspective” because I actually Refereed the Game- ( Level 7, Birmingham F.A, FAMOA No. 47756), however as always, I will, (as today), be totally “Honest and Unbiased” ( just in case the Chasetown Manager reads this, No Honestly I was!!!).
Both Teams started the Game brightly and “competed” for every ball, Chasetown probably “shaded” the first period with their mixture of Long Throws and neat “build-up Play”, however, the 2000 back four(4) stood firm and with Daniel Norton “commanding” his area, 2000 rarely looked in trouble.
H.T. 0-0.
The second period saw a slightly different scenario with 2000 exerting more “pressure” in their own right, in what proved to be an “end to end” 40 minutes of play.
2000 always looked “dangerous” when they went forward and had the Chasetown Defence on “the back foot” on numerous occasions, but, without creating a tangible “clear cut chance”.
At the “other end” and despite the Chasetown efforts, 2000 did not look in any real danger, however, on 60 minutes a “rocket” from some 30 yards seemed destined to find the 2000 net, when, Daniel Norton made a magnificent one handed save and tipped the ball over the bar.
Ultimately, and despite the effort put in by both sets of Players, the game finished in a Draw, which upon reflection was probably the “right result”.
Full Time 0-0.
An “excellent performance” by the 2000 Lads against probably one of the “best Footballing Teams” in the Division.
A special mention for the following:- Daniel Norton- “Gets better and better”, “Tosh” Whitehouse- “Mature Defending”, Daniel Burke- “As always 110% effort”, Sam Poynton- “ Unrecognisable from the Lad that joined us 2 Seasons ago”.
Remmel Johnson- “Unbelievable work rate” and Josh Mendez- “Does exactly what is asked of him”.
Another “Special mention” for Wayne Neville and Lee Cutler- who Managed and Coached the “Lads” today.
Enough said, I am now off to “soak my sore knees”.
John Whitehouse.
Manager- Bustleholme 2000.
