Bustleholme Saints.V. Bustleholme 2000.
Venue-Newton Road.
Date:- 28th September 2008.
Since the inception of both these Teams, way back in the Year 2000, every Match played against each other has been a "full
bloodied" affair.
Today was not an exception and did not disappoint, with both sets of Lads "asking no quarter" and "giving no quarter",
in what proved to be an exciting Game for the Supporters who came along to watch.
Saints started the better, and following a poor passage of play by 2000, a right wing raid and cross was not cleared by
the 2000 defence, the ball fell to Luke Wall who found the top right hand corner of the 2000 net with a well taken "looping"
finish after only 30/40 seconds!!!.
Not the ideal start for 2000, however, to their credit they hit back within minutes, following some excellent work and
cross by Remmel Johnson, the resultant goalmouth scramble and some Saints hesitation saw Josh Gardner bury the ball in to
the Saints net from 8 yards- Game on.
Saints, having home advantage, tried to push forward but the 2000 defence, well marshalled by "Tosh" Whitehouse and Aaron
Neville, stood firm.
As the "end to end" half wore on, 2000 began to exert pressure of their own with Remmel Johnson getting the better of his
"man markers" and causing the Saints problems down the right wing, and Hayden Beasmore and Jonathan Julien winning the midfield
"battle" 2000 really should have gone ahead on 30 minutes but Josh Gardner with the Goal at his mercy "blazed over" from 12
yards.
Half Time 1-1.
The Second Half saw much of the same with both set of Players giving their all, but, with 2000 now getting on top and creating
the better "clear cut chances", it was the turn of the hardworking Saints defence to withstand the resultant pressure.
Unfortunately, 2000 could not find the finish that their overall performance deserved and the Game ended in a draw.
Full Time 1-1.
Well done to both sets of Players for an excellent Game of Football.
